Key factors behind Trump's approval rating – Expert explains

The rating of US President Donald Trump was influenced both by his steps in the sphere of economy and by migration policy. Part of the decisions increased his popularity, others, however, had a negative effect, stated in the material of RBC-Ukraine "Beyond Ukraine: How economy and elections shape Trump's policies."
As told by the executive director of the American non-profit organization Renew Democracy Initiative, Uriel Epstein, the most negative impact on the rating was made by the trade tariffs introduced by the Trump administration.
Also, a blow to the image was the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill adopted by the president, which, according to Epstein, was extremely expensive: it provided tax benefits for wealthy Americans and a reduction of assistance for the poor.
Regarding migration policy, the expert noted that at the beginning of the second term, most Americans supported strict measures against immigration.
However, the situation later changed due to abuses by law enforcement officers.
"The ugly, inhumane way it’s played out, the expansion of ICE—the American immigration enforcement agency—have proven unpopular and public approval has flipped. It’s not a decisive switch, though, with approval and disapproval on that issue fairly close," Epstein noted.
Trump’s rating
From the beginning of the presidency, the approval rating of Donald Trump significantly fell. Now it amounts to approximately 37%.
According to the latest poll, 37% of registered voters approved of the work of the US president, while 55% expressed dissatisfaction. Another 7% of respondents were undecided with the answer.
Thus, Trump’s anti-rating reached minus 18 points – this is the worst result since January 2021. Compared to July, his support fell by another 4 points.
