Kamala Harris' health routine: A look at the daily life of a presidential candidate
The presidential election is taking place in the United States on November 5. Kamala Harris could make history in the 2024 presidential race. What is the daily routine of the 59-year-old candidate, what does she eat, and how does she train, read on RBC-Ukraine, referencing Women's Health.
What is Kamala Harris's routine?
"I work out every morning, regardless of how much sleep I’ve had. It’s just the best way to start the day," Kamala told former President Barack Obama in a 2020 interview.
Daily workouts
Physical exercise is very important for Harris, so "she’ll work up a sweat."
The California native has also admitted that she exercises not only for her body but also for her brain to function well.

Fiber-rich diet
Harris usually has breakfast after her workout.
"I usually stand at my kitchen counter eating some kind of Raisin Bran in almond milk while I look at my schedule for the day. It’s the generic Raisin Bran that I get from the grocery store - I try to not have a lot of sugar in it," she said.
The vice president also mentioned that she loves drinking tea with honey and lemon.
Passion for cooking
Harris loves to cook, especially dinner. In fact, she is so passionate about it that once on her YouTube channel, she hosted a cooking show called "Cooking with Kamala," where she made bacon-wrapped apples and masala dosa with Mindy Kaling.
One of Harris's favorite dishes is collard greens, as she shared with voters during a campaign stop at The Grey restaurant in downtown Savannah.
Kamala prepares it with bacon fat, chopped garlic, chili pepper, plenty of water, and chicken stock. She adds vinegar and Tabasco to it. Harris is also known for buying produce at local farmers' markets, and she has often been spotted at the DuPont Circle market in Washington, D.C.
Not shying away from snacks
During her campaign, Harris shared with voters her other favorite foods, including her love for sweets. She enjoys caramel and other treats.
Worked at McDonald's as a teenager
As a teenager, Harris and her sister Maya were raised by their single mother, Shyamala, an immigrant from India.
During an August political speech in North Carolina, Harris shared that while attending Howard University, she worked at McDonald's to earn money.
Earlier this year, she shared that her responsibilities included making french fries and working the cash register.
Low-impact workouts
Every morning, Kamala spends 30 minutes on an elliptical trainer. Sometimes she swims, and on weekends, she tries to walk several kilometers.
By the way, during the pandemic, she used homemade weights. The thing is, at that time, all the dumbbells were sold out in stores.
"I had liter water bottles that I filled, of course, with water to use them as hand weights," Harris said.
According to an October report from White House physician Dr. Joshua Simmons, Harris is in "excellent health."
The document states that she maintains a "healthy, active lifestyle despite her busy schedule," including daily aerobic and strength exercises. She also does not use tobacco products and drinks "only occasionally and in moderation."
