Italian volunteer killed fighting in Ukraine, media reports

During the full-scale war in Ukraine, an Italian who served as a fighter in the International Legion of the Ukrainian forces was killed. His body is currently located in territory temporarily controlled by Russia, la Repubblica reports.
According to the media outlet, since the fighter's body is now in enemy-held territory, there is currently no way to recover it. The fallen soldier’s comrades have already informed his family of the tragic news, although it has not yet been officially confirmed. For now, the Italian is considered missing in action.
"His comrades-in-arms are already mourning his death but are waiting for his family to decide whether they want to hear the details of the battle that ended in tragedy," la Repubblica adds.
The media resource notes that the deceased is the sixth Italian who has died defending Ukraine from Russian troops.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that in January of this year, 19-year-old Polish citizen Filip Antosiak was killed near Pokrovsk. He had left his studies in the UK to join a Ukrainian drone strike unit as a volunteer.
Earlier, 30-year-old Austrian volunteer Richard S also died at war in Ukraine, while fighting on the Ukrainian side.
