Israel shared intelligence with the US about a new Iranian plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to The Wall Street Journal.

What Israel revealed

According to informed sources, Israel has provided the US with new intelligence that, they say, points to a recent Iranian plot to assassinate President Trump.

For years, Iran has openly vowed to take revenge on Trump for the killing of Qasem Soleimani, a high-ranking general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who was killed during Trump’s first presidential term.

The Israeli Embassy in Washington declined to comment on the situation. The Iranian Mission to the UN did not respond to a request for comment.

What Trump said

On July 8 in Ankara, Trump alluded to threats against his life while speaking with reporters.

"They want to take out the U.S. leader—me. I’m on every list. I saw this morning, I’m on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn’t last very long," the President said.

At the funeral of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, attendees chanted calls for Trump’s death and unfurled a banner reading "We will kill Trump."

Attempts to assassinate the US President have been occurring regularly of late. The most recent case involved a group of eight people accused of plotting a terrorist attack specifically on Trump’s birthday. They planned to attack the crowd with drones and snipers during a UFC event near the White House.

On April 25, during the President’s dinner with journalists, an armed man was detained, and shots were fired. And in February 2026, a court sentenced a man to life in prison for attempting to shoot Trump at a golf course in Florida back in September 2024.

One of the most high-profile incidents remains the assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a bullet passed just centimeters from the President’s head and grazed his ear.
