Israel responds to Hezbollah attack with strikes. Netanyahu says this is not end of story
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a weekly government meeting that today's preemptive strike against Hezbollah in Lebanon was not “the end of the story,” according to The Times of Israel.
“Hezbollah tried to attack the State of Israel with rockets and drones. We instructed the IDF to carry out a powerful, preemptive strike to eliminate the threat,” Netanyahu said in his opening remarks at the meeting.
According to him, the IDF destroyed thousands of short-range missiles. All of them were aimed at harming the citizens of the Israeli state, as well as the country's forces in Galilee.
In addition, the IDF intercepted all the drones that Hezbollah launched at strategic targets in the center of the country.
Netanyahu emphasized that Israel had dealt Hezbollah unexpected and devastating blows.
“Three weeks ago we eliminated its chief of staff [Fuad Shukr - ed.]. Today we foiled its attack plan. [Hezbollah’s Hassan - ed.] Nasrallah in Beirut and [Ayatollah Ali - ed.] Khamenei in Tehran should know that this is another step on the path to changing the situation in the north and returning our residents safely to their homes,” the Israeli prime minister said.
Today, August 25, terrorists from the Lebanese group Hezbollah fired hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel. According to the militants, they fired more than 320 Katyusha missiles toward Israel and hit 11 military targets.
