Israel warns of possible destruction of Gaza City after a series of overnight strikes if Hamas does not lay down arms and release hostages, Sky News reports.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, in a new statement, compared the strikes on Gaza to a “hurricane storm.” He emphasized that the attacks were carried out “with unprecedented force.”

In a post published on social media platform X in the morning, Katz reported that Israeli forces destroyed 30 “multi-story terror buildings.”

The Minister clarified that dozens more terrorist facilities were bombed and destroyed. This was done to eliminate observation posts and terrorist infrastructure, as well as to prepare the way for ground forces.

According to Katz, “if Hamas terrorists do not lay down their arms and release all the hostages - they will be destroyed and Gaza will be razed.”

On August 20, Israel’s Ministry of Defense approved a plan to capture the city of Gaza, named Gideon’s Chariot II. The operation involves five divisions of the Israel Defense Forces and tens of thousands of soldiers, to completely destroy Hamas.

One of the reasons for this decision was the failed negotiations between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and hostage exchange.

On August 22, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the Israel Defense Forces’ plans to capture Gaza City and restart negotiations with Hamas.

The media reported that, ahead of the city’s capture, Israel plans to stop dropping humanitarian aid by air.
