Israeli Military Forces have reported that Lebanon launched strikes on their territory. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted artillery attacks, according to the IDF.
The Israel Defense Forces stated that they carried out morning artillery strikes on Lebanon, which were preceded by mortar shelling from the Lebanese side.
"The IDF has been taking preparational measures for this type of possibility and will continue to operate in all regions and at any time necessary to ensure the safety of the Israeli civilians," the statement reads.

On the morning of October 7, HAMAS launched a massive rocket barrage targeting southern and central Israel from the Gaza Strip. Militants breached the border and entered several communities in southern Israel.
By the evening, Israeli military forces had regained control of their territory and also conducted retaliatory strikes against HAMAS military assets and headquarters.
