Iran’s armed forces are ready to respond immediately and decisively to any aggression on land, in the air, or at sea, and the experience of last year’s war with Israel will allow them to react to threats more effectively, according to his post on X.
Araghchi’s statement came amid Washington’s deployment of naval forces to the Middle East and the US strengthening its defenses along a potential line of confrontation with Iran.
“Our brave Armed Forces are prepared—with their fingers on the trigger—to immediately and powerfully respond to ANY aggression against our beloved land, air, and sea. The valuable lessons learned from the 12-Day War have enabled us to respond even more strongly, rapidly, and profoundly,” Araghchi wrote.
At the same time, he added that Iran has always supported a mutually beneficial, fair, and equal nuclear deal.
“At the same time, Iran has always welcomed a mutually beneficial, fair and equitable NUCLEAR DEAL—on equal footing, and free from coercion, threats, and intimidation—which ensures Iran's rights to PEACEFUL nuclear technology, and guarantees NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Such weapons have no place in our security calculations and we have NEVER sought to acquire them,” the Iranian foreign minister concluded.
It should be noted that in June last year, Israel struck Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, after which Tehran launched retaliatory missile attacks.
Israel carried out the strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, viewing Iran’s nuclear program as an existential threat.
Meanwhile, Iran is currently in a state of escalation with the US. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that he has deployed US destroyers to the Middle East.
The US Department of Defense has also reinforced strike aviation and defenses, sending several additional F-15E fighter jets to the region and deploying Patriot and THAAD air defense systems to protect US bases. In addition, long-range bombers on US territory have been placed on heightened alert.
Amid the buildup of US military presence, Washington has put forward a number of conditions for a deal with Iran, including the complete removal of enriched uranium and restrictions on Iran’s missile program.
