Iran resumes attacks on Jordan after long silence

Iran launched missile strikes on Jordan late Tuesday evening, September 1. At the same time, most of the Iranian missiles were shot down by air defense systems, according to Ynet, The Times of Israel, and Press TV.
Media outlets report that, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Jordanian residents received alerts about potential danger on their mobile phones. Shortly before these messages, there was information that Iran had launched missiles toward the country.
The warnings stated that the area where people were located might be subject to the impact of debris and urged them to remain calm and take shelter in the nearest building or stay in their vehicles.
At approximately 11:15 p.m., air raid alerts were announced across the country, and later reports said Jordanian air defense systems had intercepted missiles in several areas. In particular, sirens were activated in the Mafraq and Aqaba governorates.
Some time later, the Jordanian army officially reported that it had intercepted most of the missiles.
"Jordan’s air defense systems engaged 13 ballistic missiles that entered the Kingdom’s airspace, successfully intercepting and destroying 10 of them, while three missiles fell in remote areas away from populated centers," the statement read.
Meanwhile, the IDF stated that the target was Tibtin camp on the shore of the Gulf of Aqaba.
In addition, media reported that Iran allegedly attacked US military forces and radar equipment at an air base in Bahrain with drones. It is also worth noting that Kuwait reported air defense operations due to a drone attack.
What exactly was hit as a result of the attack, whether there were strikes on bases or something else, remains unknown for now.
What preceded this
The US and Iran have still not concluded a peace agreement. However, in August, both sides ceased attacks on each other, but overnight on August 31, the US struck the Iranian island of Larak, as Iranian forces were preparing to re-mine the Strait of Hormuz.
Immediately after this, the IDF promised to respond to the attack and subsequently launched several missiles. Iran claimed to have attacked two air bases in Jordan, although Jordan itself stated that it had shot down all eight missiles.
On the evening of September 1, US Central Command stated that it was striking Iran in response to Tehran’s attempts to attack vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and US military personnel. Later, they reported that they had attacked air defense systems, electronic warfare assets, naval assets, and facilities, as well as civilian structures and uniformed personnel.
