In May 2024, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash. The final cause was attributed to weather conditions, states Reuters.

Citing an investigation, the agency writes that the helicopter crash that killed Raisi was primarily caused by weather conditions, including thick fog.

The thick fog caused the helicopter carrying Raisi and his companions to crash into a mountain.

This conclusion was reached by a high commission tasked by the Iranian military to investigate the incident.

Death of Iranian president

Raisi died in May this year when his helicopter crashed in a mountainous area near the border with Azerbaijan.

A preliminary report by the Iranian military, which was published the same month, said that the investigation found no evidence of a crime or attack.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine wrote that in August, Iran had already announced the official version of Raisi's death. In particular, it was reported that the reason was weather conditions and the helicopter's inability to cope with the weight.
