iPhone Duo receives new one-handed control features in iOS 27.3
Apple Updates iPhone Duo Interface in New OS (Collage: RBC-Ukraine)
The iPhone Duo has received specialized interface settings as part of the first beta version of iOS 27.3. This fresh update marks the most significant overhaul of the operating system since its autumn release, according to Engadget.
Specialized interface optimizations for the iPhone Duo
To enhance usability on the iPhone Duo’s external 5.4-inch OLED display, developers have reworked the Reachability feature, which facilitates one-handed smartphone control.
On standard iPhone models, this function shifts screen content downward. On the foldable smartphone, however, it operates differently: swiping from either the left or right edge of the display shifts the interface closer to the user’s thumb.
This allows users to access buttons and other controls in the opposite corner of the screen without needing to regrip the device with their other hand. The feature can be enabled via Settings > Accessibility > Touch.
Additionally, Apple has modified the on-screen keyboard on the iPhone Duo’s external display:
- The keys for switching to numbers and invoking emojis have swapped positions.
- The microphone and Return keys have been relocated.
- The keys are now slightly taller and narrower, while the space bar is wider, reducing the likelihood of accidental taps.
Siri AI automation and longevity analytics in the health app
Alongside improvements for the iPhone Duo, iOS 27.3 introduces a major expansion of Siri AI’s autonomous capabilities.
The assistant can now execute complex command chains within apps: in the Mail client, it can unsubscribe from newsletters and recall sent emails; in Safari, it can clear browsing history and close duplicate tabs; and in Files, it can organize content.
Thanks to the App Intents framework, third-party developers can now integrate their own scripts into the Siri AI system.
Apple also unveiled a redesigned Health app featuring two new analytical sections.
The Insights section displays up-to-date information on heart rate and sleep stages, accompanied by personalized suggestions powered by Apple Intelligence. Meanwhile, the Longevity section calculates a biological metric known as “Health Age,” based on cardiovascular data, VO2 max levels, and biomarkers.
The beta version also includes a vertical tab mode in Safari and new styling options for StandBy screens.
