The train station in the city of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, where fierce fighting with Russian troops is ongoing on the outskirts, has suffered heavy damage. The Ukrainian railways company Ukrzaliznytsia has shared photos of the building, which Russian forces have repeatedly attempted to destroy.

"Pokrovsk station. From here, thousands of people departed on Ukrzaliznytsia evacuation trains to safer regions of the country. It witnessed everything - tears, farewells, losses. But also hugs, hope, and belief in our future," the statement says.

Ukrzaliznytsia added that the building has been damaged by Russian shelling. But the station still stands.

Pokrovsk axis: Current situation

Pokrovsk and the surrounding area in eastern Ukraine remain among the hottest spots on the front line. Intense battles are ongoing in the area, and Russian forces have abandoned plans to storm the city head-on, instead attempting to encircle it from the flanks.

Recently, Russian troops have been trying to break through the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and encircle Pokrovsk. However, Ukrainian troops are holding the line and pushing back against Russian advances.

According to ISW, in the coming months, the Russian army will likely attempt to encircle Pokrovsk and bypass the fortified Defense Forces' line in the Donetsk region from the west.
