Summer vacation is a long-awaited event for most people. Many tend to gain weight while on vacation, but a famous fitness coach Melissa Lattari knows how to address this issue.

How to not gain weight on vacation

Miami-based fitness trainer Melissa Lattari advises walking a lot, even while on vacation, doing 10-minute workouts, taking supplements, and drinking plenty of water.

Walk more

Just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you should lie around and be inactive. Walk to the beach if you're by the sea, walk more, or choose a walking tour, suggests the expert.

Consider taking the stairs in your hotel instead of using the elevator. If you're traveling without a car, this is a great option as well.

Practice balance in everything

Enjoy your favorite foods, but in moderation, says Lattari. Eat your favorite ice cream or Aperol and don't feel guilty about it. Try to review the menu in advance to make smart choices. Alternate alcohol with water to stay hydrated and enjoy luxurious dishes.

Exercise

You can bring special resistance bands for workouts on vacation. With them, you can perform simple exercises like squats, torso lifts, and leg raises.

Bring supplements

Lattari takes multivitamins, antioxidants to support her immune system, probiotics for good gut bacteria balance, CoQ10 for heart health, and omega-3 for joint health.

Drink plenty of water

Eight glasses of water are the daily hydration goal. But needs vary from person to person, especially in summer. Lattari consumes 2.5 liters per day.

Rest

Don’t rush! Meditate or do yoga with a friend or alone. Mindfulness can help manage eating behaviors, while yoga can burn calories and promote healthier eating. Both options are great for improving mental health.
