Global superstar Adele stunned fans with her incredible transformation, losing more than 45 kilograms over two years, according to British Vogue.
Strict taboos for the sake of her voice and a special diet
The first step toward dramatic changes was a complete overhaul of her eating habits. Initially, Adele was forced to impose strict restrictions to protect her vocal cords after suffering a hemorrhage.
The singer gave up cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine, as well as all spicy, citrus, and heavily seasoned foods.
Moreover, she had to remove as many as 10 cups of sweet tea from her daily diet — a drink she had been drinking every day.
Before a major world tour, Adele decided to improve her endurance, which led to another wave of weight loss.
The star adopted the so-called Sirtfood Diet. This eating plan focuses on plant-based foods that activate special proteins in the body responsible for regulating metabolism, blood sugar levels, and appetite control.
Her diet included:
- green tea and natural cocoa powder
- kale and buckwheat
- turmeric and other beneficial plant-based ingredients

“I mostly just whine. I don’t go running to the damn gym skipping happily, I don’t enjoy it,” the singer admitted in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Her former Los Angeles Pilates trainer, Camila Goodis, also confirmed that Adele was never a big fitness fan, and that 90% of her initial success came from strict dietary discipline.
Moreover, while working on her weight, the singer faced a physiological issue: due to strain, blood vessels in her face would easily burst, so she had to exercise very carefully and without overexertion in front of the mirror.
Recovery from panic attacks after divorce
The real driving force behind her regular gym visits was not calorie counting, but a difficult breakup. After her divorce, the star experienced debilitating panic attacks that made her completely lose control over her body.
The gym became her only safe space, where she could be alone without her phone and regain control of her mind.
Her main motivation remained the desire to be healthy and strong for her son Angelo.
