Hamas tells mediators it won't negotiate with Israel until the humanitarian situation in Gaza improves, reports The Jerusalem Post.

According to The Jerusalem Post, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has already arrived in the Middle East, as ceasefire and hostage deal negotiations between Israel and Hamas have reached a deadlock.

A source told The Jerusalem Post, following a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Steve Witkoff, that Israel and the US had developed a new agreement due to Hamas’s intransigence, acknowledging the need to change the negotiation framework. The source explained that it was necessary to move from a framework focused on the partial release of hostages to one that would include the release of all hostages, the disarmament of Hamas, and the demilitarization of Gaza.

At the same time, according to media reports, Israel and the US will work to increase humanitarian aid while continuing military operations in Gaza. Witkoff and Netanyahu reportedly discussed possible ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, the release of hostages held by Hamas, and Iran.

Israel-Hamas negotiations

Recently, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated that talks with Hamas are futile, calling them religious Nazis whose goal is to destroy Israel.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that in light of the failed negotiations, Israel will have to make decisions regarding its next steps in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, the Israeli government deemed Hamas’s conditions for the release of hostages unacceptable.
