In Washington, not far from the White House, several dozen shots were fired. Law enforcement officers stopped a man who approached the residence of US President Donald Trump with a weapon and began shooting toward the building, according to Clash Report.

Secret Service agents returned fire, neutralising the attacker. It is reported that he was hospitalised with injuries.

A civilian was also wounded during the exchange of gunfire. Several officers underwent medical examination at the scene, but none of them was hospitalised.

Authorities say the suspect never breached the White House perimeter.

As for Donald Trump's condition, the White House reported that the president is safe.

What is known about the assassination attempts on Trump

This is not the first threat to Trump's security. In February 2026, a US court sentenced Ryan Routh to life imprisonment for attempting to shoot the president on a golf course in Florida in September 2024.

However, the first assassination attempt should be considered the shooting in Pennsylvania. In that incident, a bullet wounded Trump in the ear.

Interestingly, Americans do not believe in all assassination attempts. For example, 30% of respondents believe that the shooting during a luncheon with journalists in Washington was a staged publicity stunt.
