This week, Google Maps is introducing several new features for iOS and Android users, with a focus on improved navigation and trip planning tools, according to the MacRumors website.

New features

A new, prominent Add Stops button is added next to the Start button to make it easier to plan a route, displaying restaurants, gas stations, and points of interest along the way.

This week's update also provides weather reports, allowing drivers to note and avoid hazards such as uncleared roads, flooding, or poor visibility.

In addition, arrival assistance is being improved. Google Maps will now highlight nearby parking lots and prompt users to save their parking spots. The app can then provide walking routes to the final destination using AR Live View navigation.

A more significant navigation update is planned for next month. This improvement will provide clearer visualization of lanes, pedestrian crossings, and road signs with a blue line indicating the correct lane position during turns and merges.
