Georgia's Prime Minister gives unexpected forecast on European integration
Georgia will be much more ready for European integration by 2030 than other candidates. Accession to the EU looks realistic at this time, states Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
"By 2030, Georgia will be the most ready to integrate into the European Union compared to all the candidate countries, and we will continue to take appropriate steps to this end. Therefore, I am confident that Georgia may well join the European Union by 2030," he said.
Kobakhidze also called the decision of Georgia's Western partners to suspend funding for the state in various areas sad. Meanwhile, the head of the Georgian government is confident that relations with the states that called on the Georgian Dream to return to a democratic, pro-Western course will begin to improve next year.
He added that over the past 3-4 years, Georgia has undergone such processes that certain difficulties have arisen in the relations, and they need to be restarted and improved.
What is known about Georgia's path to the EU
At the moment, Georgia is only a candidate for EU membership, a status it managed to obtain only on the second attempt, and now it is under threat due to the adoption of the scandalous law on foreign agents by the Georgian parliament. In addition, there are calls in the EU for the abolition of visa-free travel for Georgians.
