In Egypt, archaeologists, during excavations in Saqqara, have discovered a series of important artifacts. Among them are a tomb dating back to the Second Dynasty, terracotta statues of the goddess Isis, and fragments of clay pottery with ancient inscriptions, according to a post by Egyptian archaeologist and historian Zahi Hawass on Facebook.

How do the unique findings look like?

"Saqqara keeps telling us more about its secrets. The joint Japanese-Egyptian archaeological mission working at Saqqara has revealed a series of important discoveries," the researcher wrote.

Scientists found a rock-cut tomb dating back to the Second Dynasty, the burial of a man and a child with masks on their faces, as well as various burials from the late period and the Ptolemaic period.

"The mission also found archaeological finds such as teracota statues of the goddess Isis, funerary masks, ushabtis, pottery, ostraca with hieratic inscription, and faience amulets in the shape of the eye of Horus, the goddess Isis and the god Bes," added Hawass.

It should be noted that Sakkara is a village about 30 km south of Cairo. It is home to the oldest necropolis of the capital of the Old Kingdom, Memphis. There are 11 pyramids on this territory, where representatives of various dynasties are buried.

Excavations in Sakkara are ongoing. In 2015, they uncovered the tomb of Maia, the nurse of Tutankhamun.
