Rumors have surfaced suggesting that Paapa Essiedu, a Black actor, might play Severus Snape in the upcoming Harry Potter series. Alongside this, new details have emerged regarding potential actors for Hagrid, Professor Dumbledore, and Minerva McGonagal, according to Deadline.
Who will Star in new Harry Potter series
The series, which promises to delve deeper into the wizarding world of Hogwarts, is set to premiere in 2027. However, filming has yet to begin, and the cast has not been finalized as auditions and negotiations are still ongoing.
HBO, the company behind the series, plans to start filming in the summer of 2025 but has remained secretive about the details. Nevertheless, some key information has leaked.

The role of Professor Dumbledore, previously played by Richard Harris and Michael Gambon in the films, could go to Mark Strong. Known for his roles in Sherlock Holmes, Dune, and Kingsman, Strong was also reportedly considered for the role of Severus Snape.

Emmy-winning actor Brett Goldstein, star of the hit series Ted Lasso, is rumored to be in talks for the role of Hagrid, Hogwarts’ beloved groundskeeper. With his rugged appearance and acting chops, Goldstein is thought to be a strong fit for the role.

The creators of the series are probably considering Sharon Horgan, the star of the TV series and films The Unbearable Burden of Great Talent, 38 Monkeys, and Catastrophe.
