Last week, on August 19, a shootout broke out among Russian forces in Kherson region. As a result, more than 20 people were killed and others were injured, according to the Telegram channel of the partisan movement ATESH.

According to the publication, the events took place on the left bank of Kherson region. The armed clash occurred between units of the 127th reconnaissance brigade and the 24th motorized rifle regiment.

"It all started when servicemen of the 24th regiment opened fire on the positions of the 127th brigade. In turn, they mistook them for a Ukrainian sabotage and assault group and raised a reserve unit on alert. As a result, a chaotic firefight broke out," the report said.

As a result of the clash, 21 occupiers were killed and 17 were wounded. In addition, after the incident, inspections began in the units, with tighter control and interrogations of personnel.

"The atmosphere inside the occupying units has become even more tense: distrust is growing, soldiers suspect each other of provocations, and commanders fear new conflicts," ATESH concluded.

Russians shooting at each other

It should be noted that this shootout is not the first such case.

For example, in July 2022, in the occupied city of Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region, a conflict broke out among Russian forces that escalated into a shootout. As a result, 4 people were killed and about 10 others were injured.
