In central-southern Chile, two people died due to the storm, tens of thousands left homeless, according to Reuters.

Chilean President Gabriel Boric declared a state of emergency on Monday due to heavy rains that have led to massive floods. Meteorologists anticipate even more rain in mountainous areas, increasing the risk of further floods and landslides.

According to Chile's emergency agency, nearly 34,000 people have been evacuated, and around 38,000 people are without electricity.

Gabriel Boric urged Chileans to heed evacuation orders, saying, "When these messages are received, it is not a joke, you must evacuate immediately."
