A large-scale fire broke out in a hotel in the ski resort of Kartalkaya in northern Türkiye. At least 10 people were dead and several dozen others were injured, reports Daily Sabah.

According to preliminary data, the fire broke out on the fourth floor of the 11-story Grand Kartal hotel at about 03:30 a.m. local time (02:00 Kyiv time - ed.). The hotel was home to 234 guests. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The fire killed 10 people, two of them as a result of falling from a height, and 32 people were injured. According to the governor of the region, Abdulaziz Aydın, the dead and injured are Turkish citizens.

Those evacuated from the building have already been accommodated in other hotels in the region. The fire on the lower floors was extinguished in the following hours thanks to the fire brigades.

The Kartalkaya ski resort is located at the top of the Köroğlu Mountains and is popular among locals. The resort is located about 40 kilometers from the city of Bolu and 270 kilometers from Istanbul.
