Finnish president urges citizens to prepare for potential sabotage

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has called on the country's residents to mentally prepare for possible sabotage on state territory, according to Yle.
In addition to sabotage, Stubb advised Finns to be prepared for drones entering the country's airspace. Currently, it is known that four unmanned vehicles have already fallen in Finland since the beginning of 2026.
According to the Finnish leader, this concerns not only conventional war but also hybrid confrontation.
"The first type is kinetic war, which we are currently seeing between Ukraine and Russia. The second is hybrid war, which Russia is waging against Europe," he said.
At the same time, Stubb emphasized that there is no reason for panic. According to him, the military and authorities have quickly strengthened measures to counter hybrid threats and drones.
He also added that it is important to remain calm, perceive news with restraint, and not react to every alarm signal.

In late August, Alexander Stubb stated that he does not believe Russia will ever want to attack NATO. He argued this based on his own intelligence data, as well as deterrence measures such as nuclear weapons.
He also said that despite Russia's hybrid attacks, Europe needs to seek contact with the Kremlin and engage in dialogue.
