Finland prepares for possible Russian false-flag operation using Ukrainian drones

Captured Ukrainian drones could become part of a Russian provocation against NATO, prompting Finland to prepare for unusual scenarios, according to an interview with Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen by IS.
According to him, it cannot be ruled out that Moscow may attempt to carry out an escalation or provocation in the Baltic region. One possible goal of such actions could be to weaken the political, economic and military support for Ukraine from its allies, as well as test NATO's readiness.
Earlier, leaders of Poland and the Baltic states warned of a possible Russian attack, sabotage or provocation in the region. According to Lithuanian intelligence, Moscow could use Ukrainian drones captured as military spoils to stage a false-flag attack.
Häkkänen stressed that Finland needs to remain vigilant. According to him, the country must prepare not only for cases involving drones that have strayed off course, but also for more unusual events.
"We will have to be very vigilant. Even during the Cold War, the KGB in Russia organized operations that were so bizarre that, unfortunately, anything is possible," the minister said.
He noted that Finland must continuously assess its intelligence capabilities, sensor network, defense capabilities and the country's readiness.
Häkkänen also said that even Russia's use of Ukrainian components would not allow it to conceal a false-flag operation. At the same time, he stressed that the use of military force against NATO would be a major step that Moscow understands.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that the coming months could be critical for the Baltic states amid potential threats from Russia.
According to him, Poland is actively preparing for various scenarios and receiving information about potential threats from its allies. Tusk urged people not to panic but not to underestimate the situation.
