Expert names main outcome of mass pager explosions among Hezbollah militants
The massive explosions of Hezbollah pagers will not lead to the complete collapse of the group. But an atmosphere of fear spread among the militants, Israeli military observer Yigal Levin told RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
Hospitals in Lebanon are overloaded after the explosion of militants' pagers. The seriously wounded can stay there for months.
“Hospitals are being overloaded right now. Plus, the chain of communication is broken. Because these pagers were one of the main means of communication for certain signal teams. Plus, there is chaos and panic. In Hezbollah itself and, by the way, in Beirut and Lebanon,” Levin added.
The expert emphasizes that even after such a massive attack, it will not be possible to finish off Hezbollah in one fell swoop, as this group is “actually a state within a state.”
The militants in Lebanon have their own trade unions, structures, power-generating facilities, territories, taxes, services, taxis, schools, and social security.
According to Levin, the main goal of the attack was “not explosions of pagers.” Now there may be distrust within the group, as the militants will think about the agents who know about all Hezbollah's plans.
“This is the most important thing here. Creating an atmosphere of fear. It was a success,” the expert added.
