EU to fund Greenland amid Trump's annexation threats — Reuters

Today, Monday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will announce an increase in EU investment in Greenland and closer political ties with the Danish territory, which US President Donald Trump considers part of the United States, according to Reuters.
Specifically, von der Leyen arrived in Greenland on Sunday for a two-day visit intended to demonstrate support for the governments of Greenland and Denmark, which have firmly rejected Trump's campaign to annex the world's largest island.
The European Commission President is expected to present plans for investments in sectors such as the extraction of critical minerals, satellite communications, and renewable energy in Greenland.
On Sunday in Greenland's capital, von der Leyen stated that the package of measures would be substantial, but did not provide any details.
For his part, Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen says his country wants to strengthen its close friendship and good partnership with the EU.

Earlier this year, Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen stated that the island rejected the option of joining the United States. He emphasized that Greenland preferred to remain in a union with Denmark.
Also, in late August, the Danish Armed Forces officially announced that they had deployed a group of recently conscripted soldiers to the island for the first time.
