EU Parliament approves new European Commission team
The European Parliament has approved the new composition of the European Commission. It is headed by President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Parliament.
"Today the European Parliament voted on the new college of commissioners, which will he proposing EU policies for the next five years," the statement said.
370 deputies voted in favor of the new European Commission, 282 voted against, and 36 abstained.
The new board of the European Commission will start working on December 1.
Each of the EU member states nominates one European Commissioner to the European Commission. Germany is an exception, as this country is represented by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Von der Leyen's candidacy for this position was supported by the European Council and approved by the European Parliament in July this year after the elections.

In addition to the President, the European Commission consists of 26 commissioners. In September, Ursula von der Leyen presented the new composition of the European Commission.
For example, Estonian representative Kaja Kallas was appointed as the EU's chief diplomat. Lithuanian Andrius Kubilius was appointed European Commissioner for Defense and Space, and Slovenian representative Marta Kos was appointed European Commissioner for Enlargement.
For several weeks, the European Parliament could not approve the candidacies of seven European Commissioners. However, the disputes were overcome.
