The famous actress and star of the series Emily in Paris, Lily Collins, has shocked her fans. It turned out that the daughter of renowned singer Phil Collins has become a mother for the first time — but she did not give birth herself.

Emily in Paris actress becomes a mother for the first time
Lily posted a touching photo showing her newborn daughter. It turned out that the actress and her husband, Charlie McDowell, used the services of a surrogate mother who carried their baby.
Collins even revealed her daughter's name — Tove Jane McDowell. According to the actress, she and her husband are incredibly grateful to the surrogate mother and everyone who helped them become parents.

"We love you to the moon and back again," the actress wrote, addressing her daughter.
It is unknown exactly when the baby was born. Lily and her husband kept everything secret until the last moment, and the news that the couple had used a surrogate mother was not well received by all internet users.
Backlash over surrogacy
Some commenters were outraged by the growing "trend" of surrogacy. These users began to criticize Lily.
However, other users defended Collins, trying to explain to the critics that surrogacy helps women who cannot carry a child on their own.

Lily’s husband responds to the hate
In the comments, Lily’s husband also appeared. He did not ignore the harsh remarks from internet users.
"Thank you for all the kind messages and love. We are overjoyed and very grateful.
In regards to the unkind messages about surrogacy and our path to having a baby— it’s ok to not be an expert on surrogacy. It’s ok to not know why someone might need a surrogate to have a child. It’s ok to not know the motivations of a surrogate regardless of what you assume," he wrote.
"And it’s ok to spend less time spewing hateful words into the world, especially in regards to a beautiful baby girl who has brought a lot of love into people’s lives," he added.
He concluded his message by saying he was ending the comment because he had to change his daughter's diaper.
Lily Collins' personal life
The actress, who played the lead role in Emily in Paris, married writer and director Charlie McDowell in 2021. Before that, they dated for several years and engaged in 2020.
