On the morning of Tuesday, January 14, unidentified drones attacked the Kazan Orgsintez plant. A fire broke out in the tankers, according to Russian Telegram channels.

According to eyewitnesses, they first heard drones flying over the village of Osynovka, followed by an explosion near the Kazanorgsintez plant. After some time, the Russians confirmed that a large fire had broken out in the area of the plant.

The ASTRA channel, citing Vecherniaia Kazan, claims that the strike hit not the plant itself but the liquefied gas base (which appears to be located on the plant's premises). Some reports suggest that three tankers are on fire.

The authorities of Tatarstan have already responded to the incident, confirming the attack. They mention the ongoing efforts to address the aftermath, although Russian channels continue to report that the fire is still burning.

"At 5:20 a.m. today, a gas tanker caught fire in the suburbs of Kazan as a result of a drone strike. No casualties were reported. Emergency services, which quickly arrived at the scene, have dealt with the aftermath," stated the press service of the head of Tatarstan.

Telegram channels ASTRA and several others report that the Orgsintez plant is a chemical facility. It is claimed to be the only Russian producer of polycarbonates, sevilen, and metallocene polyethylene — high-strength plastics, as well as one of the largest producers of high and low-density polyethylene in Russia.

It is also known that as of the time of publication, airports in Kazan, Saratov, Penza, and Ulyanovsk have temporarily restricted operations. In particular, they are unable to accept or dispatch flights. About an hour earlier, similar restrictions were implemented in Kaluga and Tambov.
