On the eve of International Women’s Day, the Barbie brand unveiled a unique Dream Team collection dedicated to outstanding women around the world. Among the selected heroines were the famous footballer Chloe Kelly and tennis star Serena Williams, according to Barbie’s Instagram account.

Recognition for sporting achievements

Renowned English footballer Chloe Kelly received symbolic recognition from Mattel.

Ahead of International Women’s Day, the athlete became part of Barbie’s large-scale Dream Team initiative.

A personalized doll was specially created for the footballer, replicating her image in full.

This gesture aims to honor women whose professional achievements serve as an inspiration for young girls worldwide.

Who else joined the Dream Team

Kelly is not the only athlete featured in this line.

Alongside her, toy replicas were created for legendary American tennis player Serena Williams and Polish mountaineer Zoya Skubis.

The project brought together eight outstanding figures from various fields, including:

  • Stephanie Gilmore (surfing)

  • Smriti Mandhana (cricket)

  • Sia Regina Sirvent Alvarado (auto racing)

  • Kelly Gerrardi (space exploration)

  • Helene Fischer (music industry)

Inspiration for future champions

The main idea behind creating the Barbie Dream Team is to motivate the next generation.

In a statement from the manufacturer, it is emphasized that each of the chosen women personally paved the way in their profession, proving that any dream is achievable.

Brand representatives are confident that such examples will help girls believe in their own abilities and reach heights in fields that were previously considered closed.

A Ukrainian mark in Barbie history

The first Ukrainian to receive this honor was fencer Olha Kharlan.

In 2020, the Olympic champion inspired designers to create a doll as part of the Role Models series.

At that time, Kharlan became one of nine world-renowned female athletes (alongside footballer Amanda Henri and track and field star Dina Asher-Smith) whose images were turned into dolls.

“As a little girl, I always dreamed of my own Barbie doll. But I never imagined that one day I would become a doll myself!” – Olha shared her emotions on Instagram.

The fencer doll was meticulously styled to match the image of the Ukrainian champion.

Olha Kharlan is a gold medalist of Beijing 2008, a medalist at the 2012 Games, and a multiple-time European champion.
