Dozens of Russian drones cross into Ukraine in fresh wave of strikes

Russia has been attacking Ukraine with groups of strike drones since the morning. New waves of UAVs continue to cross the Ukrainian border, according to the Ukrainian Air Force and monitoring channels.
As of 12:00 p.m. local time, air raid alerts due to drone threats were declared in Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, and Vinnytsia regions, as well as parts of Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Khmelnytskyi, and Zhytomyr regions.
According to monitoring channels, dozens of Russian drones are currently over Ukrainian territory. Social media reports say Ukrainians are observing “entire swarms” of enemy Shahed drones.
In addition, monitoring channels recorded the redeployment of two Tu-95MS aircraft from the Olenya airbase to the Engels airbase. Missile launches during the redeployment cannot be ruled out.

Aftermath of the attack
According to regional authorities, UAV debris fell on a kindergarten in the Cherkasy region.
Air defense forces are operating in the region. In the Zolotonosha district, a kindergarten was damaged by UAV debris and the blast wave. Windows in the building were shattered. There were no injuries.
Children and staff of the facility were in a shelter.
Preliminarily, three private houses were also damaged, said the head of the region, Ihor Taburets.

In Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv region, an enemy drone struck a food industry enterprise, injuring four employees.
According to the prosecutor’s office, on May 1 at around 10:00 a.m., Russian forces attacked the city, preliminarily using a Molniya-type UAV.
The strike hit the территории (territory) of a food enterprise. As a result of the attack, a production workshop was damaged.

Explosions are being heard in Ternopil this afternoon as the city comes under a drone attack.
Earlier, Mayor Serhii Nadal reported that a large number of enemy UAVs were heading toward the region and the city.
Night attack on Ukraine
From the evening of April 30 to the morning of May 1, the Russian army launched more than 200 strike drones of various types at Ukraine, including jet-powered Shaheds, Italmas, and Gerbera drones.
Overnight, air defense shot down or suppressed 190 enemy drones. However, 20 UAVs still hit 14 locations.
