U.S. President Donald Trump is known for his distinctive hairstyle with thinning golden-blond hair. However, he recently appeared in public with a new look. Another change in his appearance was noticed — his hair in new photos looks somewhat darker and richer in color than usual.

Hairstylist Ruslana Biela said that she first noticed not so much a possible change in hair color as the way the hairstyle affects the visual perception of hair density.

What has changed in the president’s appearance

According to her, Trump has noticeable thinning in the crown area, so the characteristic length of his hair, the direction of the styling and the complex shape of his hairstyle have effectively worked as a “camouflage” for years.

In particular, his hair is swept over and styled in a way that maximally covers areas where it is less dense.

“As a hairstylist, what I see first and foremost here is not simply a change in hairstyle, but an attempt to create the visual impression of greater hair density,” the stylist noted.

The elaborate styling can serve a very specific purpose — creating the illusion of having more hair. At the same time, in her opinion, when hair becomes significantly thinner, long hair is not always the best way to hide the problem.

“I always tell men: when hair becomes significantly thinner, a shorter, properly chosen haircut often looks much more modern and natural than trying to hide the problem with long hair. The harder we try to ‘cover up’ a thinning area, the more attention we can sometimes draw to it,” Biela explained.

What happened to the hair color

The expert also commented separately on the possible color change. Based on photographs alone, it is impossible to say with certainty that Trump actually dyed his hair, as lighting, the camera, and image processing can affect the shade.

That is why claims about a new color should currently be viewed as a visual observation rather than a confirmed fact.

“But if the hair was actually dyed, a darker or more saturated shade can be a way to visually make the hair appear denser. This is a common colorist technique: color can change how we perceive the volume of hair, although it obviously does not increase its actual density,” Ruslana Biela said.

In the stylist’s opinion, the U.S. president’s hairstyle may be a carefully designed system of visual camouflage, in which every detail serves a purpose.

“In Trump’s case, I primarily see a very carefully thought-out camouflage system: length + styling direction + shape + possibly color correction. His hairstyle is not an accidental style; it serves a very specific purpose — to create the impression of more hair where its density has already decreased,” she noted.

Hair transplantation for men

She also shared her personal professional view on hair transplantation, which, according to her, is often treated today as a universal solution to baldness.

“I’m quite skeptical about the way the beauty industry markets this procedure today. It is an expensive surgical procedure that is often presented almost as a guaranteed way to restore one’s former hair. But as a hairstylist, I’m much more interested not in the after photo, but in how that hair looks and wears five or 10 years later, especially if the person’s own hair continues to thin,” she added.

At the same time, she emphasized that she does not consider hair transplantation a procedure that does not work. The procedure can produce good results when there are appropriate indications, but it should not be viewed as a magic button.

Her skepticism concerns not the surgical procedure itself, but the inflated expectations that advertising often creates.

“In the beauty industry, they very often sell a photo of the result. But as a stylist, I’m interested in a result that a person will be able to wear normally for years. And that is my personal professional position,” she concluded.

By the way, this is not the first time recently that Trump’s hairstyle has attracted particular attention.

In August, his hair was already the subject of intense discussion after the politician appeared with a more voluminous hairstyle, and now the public has also noticed a change in its shade. Whether the U.S. president actually decided to dye his hair or the darker color was simply the result of lighting and shooting conditions remains unknown.
