Women over 30 should start monitoring their health, because symptoms such as fatigue and dizziness can be harbingers of premenopause. The doctor cited by The Mirror named the main signs of this condition.

The main symptoms

Premenopause occurs when you have menopausal symptoms but your periods have not stopped.

Menopause is the period when your periods stop due to a decrease in hormone levels. It typically affects women between the ages of 45 and 55, but it can happen earlier.

"If you are over 30 years old and you feel tired, you have 'brain fog,' then this is an important signal from the body. If you go through a 'normal' menopause, you go through it between the ages of 49 and 51. Pre-menopause, which is the period before menopause when hormones can fluctuate a lot, can actually start very early," explained Dr. Shireen Kassam.

Also, if you become particularly irritable, sleep poorly, and sweat a lot, these can also be signs of menopause.

Menopause and premenopause can feel different for everyone, with some people experiencing many symptoms and some experiencing none. Symptoms can include changes in menstruation, mood changes, problems with memory or concentration, trouble sleeping, heart palpitations, muscle aches, and weight gain.

Causes of early menopause

The causes may include genetic predisposition, autoimmune diseases, surgical removal of the ovaries, cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy), and other factors. In this case, the symptoms of menopause appear earlier and it is important for women to consult a doctor.

Causes of premature menopause:

  • genetics - heredity plays an important role in determining the age of menopause. If a woman has a history of premature menopause in her family, she is more likely to experience it herself
  • autoimmune diseases - some autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis or thyroid disease, can affect the functioning of the ovaries and lead to premature depletion of their function
  • surgical removal of the ovaries - leads to the complete onset of menopause, regardless of the woman's age
  • infections and chronic diseases - some infectious diseases or chronic conditions can affect ovarian function.
