Do this one thing before washing your jeans to prevent misshaping

Before tossing your jeans into the washing machine, follow a few simple steps to preserve their color, shape, and fabric. Here’s what you need to do before hitting ''start'', according to Good Housekeeping.
What to do
When washing jeans, make sure to fasten zippers, buttons, and snaps. This helps jeans maintain their shape and prevents them from snagging on other items.
Check pockets for tissues or receipts and turn jeans inside out to minimize color fading and wear.
If your jeans have tears or frayed edges, place them in a large mesh laundry bag to prevent further damage.
Cold water and a short, delicate cycle (e.g., for delicate or colored fabrics) are ideal. Use a detergent designed for dark colors.
You don’t need to wash jeans after every wear. If there are no stains, you can wear them three to four times between washes. Less frequent washing preserves the fabric’s strength and fit.
Mistakes to avoid
High water temperature: Hot water causes shrinking and fading. Set the machine to 20–30°C (68–86°F), maximum 40°C (104°F) if the care label allows.
Excessive spinning: High spin speeds deform the fabric and damage elastane. Use 600–800 rpm for regular denim and 600 rpm for stretch denim.
Harsh detergents and bleach: Alkalis and chlorine damage fibers and dye. Use a liquid detergent for dark fabrics without bleach.
High-temperature drying: Can cause shrinking and stiffness. Dry naturally in the shade on a flat surface or hanging.
Ironing at high temperature: Can leave shiny marks. Iron inside out at medium heat or use a steamer.
