Dermatologist reveals truth about anti-wrinkle cream
Many skin products are heavily advertised, promising to rid your face of wrinkles. But is this really true? Can a face cream restore your youth?
Dermatologist Olha Tarnavska provided insights on this topic in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
What ingredients should be in anti-wrinkle cream?
Anti-wrinkle cream is a beauty product designed to combat the causes of wrinkle formation. Its formula should include vitamins, such as retinol and vitamin C, as well as AHA acids — lactic, salicylic, and glycolic.
Tarnavska highlighted ingredients that can help prevent wrinkles, particularly hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is beneficial for both prevention and correction of wrinkles. An important detail is that HA comes in various types, each with its own molecular chain. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid has large molecules that remain on the surface of the epidermis, creating incredible silkiness and smoothness of the skin.
It’s easy to guess that medium molecular weight HA has medium-sized molecules capable of penetrating the epidermis, creating a buffer that literally fills wrinkles from the inside out.
Low molecular weight HA, or encapsulated HA, has nano-sized molecules that safely reach the dermis and fill in deficiencies.

Can cream eliminate wrinkles?
Olha said that anti-wrinkle cream "is not a magical remedy, but rather a set of specific ingredients that address specific tasks."
"You have the opportunity to determine for yourself whether the cream will help prevent wrinkles or not. Practice shows that one shouldn’t expect 100% rejuvenation," Olha explained.
Therefore, it's important to remember that even the most expensive cosmetics may not deliver the expected results, and any cream should not be considered a medical treatment. There’s a common misconception that a single cream is sufficient to eliminate wrinkles because its active components penetrate deeply into the skin. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
According to the dermatologist, more effective options include the use of biorevitalization and machine techniques.
