Putin and Macron speak by phone for first time in nearly three years and discuss war in Ukraine
The Élysée Palace reported that Macron’s conversation with Putin lasted about two hours.
"As for Ukraine, the President of the Republic stressed France’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Élysée Palace noted.
Macron also called on the head of the Kremlin to immediately implement a ceasefire and begin negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to achieve a lasting and sustainable resolution.

Denmark takes over the EU Council presidency from Poland. The focus is on supporting Ukraine and strengthening Europe’s security.
As of July 1, Denmark has taken over the presidency of the Council of the European Union. Over the next six months, the country will focus on strengthening the EU’s security, supporting Ukraine, and developing the European defense industry.
Official Copenhagen states that the main task will be to create a more resilient and independent European Union, capable of responding independently to geopolitical challenges.
