European countries underestimate the reality of the threat from Russia and are too slow to do what needs to be done for their defense, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said during a media briefing ahead of the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen.

The Danish Prime Minister was asked whether Europe was acting too slowly on issues of defense and protection against hybrid attacks, to which Frederiksen replied that all countries were acting too slowly.

According to her, everyone underestimated how big a threat Russia really is.

The Prime Minister said that it could not be said they had done nothing, because they were doing a lot.

As Frederiksen emphasized, EU needs to speed up and scale up.

The Danish prime minister said that he hoped everyone recognized that Ukraine had to be considered the first line of defense, and that everything they did in Ukraine was a contribution to protecting themselves and the rest of Europe

In September, Russian strike drones violated the airspace of several NATO countries. These include at least Poland and Romania.

According to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the Alliance is still investigating whether Russia deliberately attacked the airspace of Estonia and Poland. He noted that it is currently unknown who is behind the drone incursion in Denmark.
