The first week of August may leave many people reaching for extra water and paying closer attention to how they feel. Moderate and strong geomagnetic storms could trigger headaches, fatigue, and other symptoms even in otherwise healthy people.

RBC-Ukraine reveals what to expect during the first week of the month.

Geomagnetic storm forecast: What to expect

Space weather experts have released a forecast for the first days of August. Here's when solar activity is expected to be at its highest:

August 1-2Unsettled geomagnetic conditions

Solar activity will remain at a moderate level. Weather-sensitive people may experience mild fatigue, reduced concentration, and slight apathy. Most people, however, are unlikely to notice significant changes in their well-being.

August 4-5Strong geomagnetic storm

A powerful solar storm is expected to reach Earth, with geomagnetic activity rising to a strong level. These are the days when headaches, dizziness, pronounced fatigue, and sudden blood pressure fluctuations are most likely. Doctors advise taking extra care and avoiding unnecessary physical strain.

August 6-8Calm geomagnetic conditions

Solar activity is expected to decline, and Earth's magnetosphere should stabilize. These will be the best days for exercise, travel, outdoor activities, and tackling demanding tasks.

Who is most affected?

People with cardiovascular disease, high or low blood pressure, older adults, pregnant women, and those suffering from chronic fatigue are generally more vulnerable during periods of heightened solar activity.

Doctors also note that geomagnetic storms tend to affect people who are under prolonged stress or regularly sleep too little. Common complaints include severe migraines, increased anxiety, irritability, and irregular heart rhythms.

How to reduce the impact

While it's impossible to prevent solar storms, there are several ways to help your body cope with the added stress.

Keep a close eye on your blood pressure, especially if you have a chronic medical condition. Make sure you have any necessary medications on hand and monitor your readings regularly.

Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Experts also recommend avoiding strong coffee, energy drinks, and alcohol for a few days, replacing them with herbal tea instead.

Before periods of intense geomagnetic activity, try to get more sleep to give your body enough time to recover. It's also a good idea to postpone strenuous workouts and stressful situations until calmer geomagnetic conditions return.
