Former President of the United States Donald Trump poses a threat to his country as he refuses to defend other NATO members from attacks, according to President Joe Biden's X account.
According to Biden, the NATO pledge that an attack on one member is an attack on the entire Alliance ensures the security of American families. And it's "that simple".
"Any individual who calls into question the durability of that vow is a danger to our security," the president emphasized.
What Trump said
Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated during a rally in South Carolina that he would not defend NATO allies who "refused to pay their bills".
Moreover, the ex-president threatened to encourage Russians to "whatever the hell they want".
Thus, Trump directly opposed the principle of NATO collective security, which stipulates that an attack on one member is an attack on the entire Alliance.
The White House, responding to such a scandalous statement, called the words of the former American leader "shocking and insane".
