Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred
Ukraine commemorates the Heavenly Hundred Heroes on February 20. Exactly a decade ago, during the Revolution of Dignity, the confrontation between the Ukrainian people and the then regime of the fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych reached its peak.
On February 20, 2014, the largest number of Maidan activists perished. From February 18 to 20, 2014, 78 people died on Maidan, and another 20 died after February 20.
On February 11, 2015, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed Decree No. 69/2015 "On Commemorating the Heroism of Participants of the Revolution of Dignity and Perpetuating the Memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes." Thus, Ukraine established a special memorial day - Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, which is annually observed on February 20.
