Cup of coffee at this time will extend your life: New study
Do you like coffee? A new study by scientists has shown that enjoying it at certain times of the day can bring certain health benefits.
What did the study find about coffee
A study led by researchers from Tulane University in New Orleans found that drinking coffee in the morning reduces mortality compared to drinking coffee later in the day.
The study analyzed the nutritional data of more than 42,000 adults over nine years.
By comparing adult coffee consumption and causes of death, the researchers found that those who drank two to three cups of coffee in the morning had a significantly lower risk of death from any cause and cardiovascular disease compared to those who did not.
"Moderate coffee consumption is associated with health benefits. Our study is the first to show that the timing of coffee drinking also matters, in addition to the amount - and drinking in the morning shows a stronger association with health benefits than at other times," said lead author Lu Qi.
According to Michelle Rutenstein, a registered dietitian in New York City who specializes in heart disease, part of the benefit of drinking coffee in the morning is related to the circadian rhythm, which is the body's internal clock that regulates wakefulness and sleep.
"Drinking coffee in the morning corresponds to a person's circadian rhythm, allowing people to be more focused during the day and allowing them to rest at night," the expert said.
Drinking coffee later in the day can sometimes signal a dependence on stimulants to stay focused and continue working, often at the expense of suppressing hunger.
By the way, the common mistake that turns coffee into poison is named.
