Russian forces launched a combined attack on Kharkiv overnight on June 5, using a missile and strike drones. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out in an apartment building, and there are reports of injuries, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

"As a result of direct hits on residential apartment buildings, there are injuries. Apartments and vehicles near the buildings are on fire," Terekhov stated.

According to him, Russian forces targeted residential apartment blocks in the city’s Slobidskyi district.

Terekhov also noted that a total of six Russian drones struck Kharkiv. One of them failed to detonate. Another hit an apartment on the 17th floor of a high-rise building, while a separate drone struck the second floor of another multi-story residential building.

According to the city’s mayor, a total of seven apartment buildings were damaged by the Shahed drone strike in the Slobidskyi district. Additionally, four cars parked in courtyards were completely destroyed by fire.

He also added that in one of the apartments, drone fragments pierced through the walls.

"A part of the Shahed’s engine ended up right in the hallway. The residents were home at the time - they survived only because they happened to be sleeping in another room. It’s a miracle that everyone is alive," Terekhov noted.

Update on injured

Initially, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported three injured individuals as a result of the Russian attack, including a 13-year-old child and an elderly man. They were receiving medical care.

Later, Syniehubov stated that the number of injured had risen to four, including a pregnant woman.

According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, as of 3:10 AM Kyiv time, the number of people injured in the massive drone attack had risen to 17. Among them are two 13-year-old girls, a 9-year-old girl, and a 7-year-old boy. All are in mild condition and received medical assistance on-site. The oldest victim is 93 years old.

Russian strikes on Kharkiv

On June 4, a Russian attack drone struck the outskirts of Kharkiv, reportedly hitting a gas station in the Kyivskyi district. On June 3, an FPV drone hit near the outskirts of the city, close to the regional border.

On the night of June 2, according to the State Emergency Service, Russian drones targeted a postal terminal on the outskirts of Kharkiv. A massive fire broke out, two warehouse buildings and containers covering a total area of 3,000 square meters were engulfed in flames.
