Coach shares 3 super methods to stop skipping workouts

After a long workday, it's tempting to skip a scheduled workout. However, there are ways to break this habit for good, according to Aaptiv.
Why do people skip workouts
Sometimes, people skip workouts because they are too tired or too busy.
Expert in sports psychology and health, Julia Tehovnik, explained that often people feel demotivated, which leads them to miss their workouts.
"If we’re feeling unmotivated, it’s quite easy to push working out down the list of our priorities. Once our motivation starts to lessen, it becomes easier to find reasons to skip our workout routines," she added.
Trainer Monica Lam-Faist suggests that if your goal is weight loss, it's important to set specific time frames for shedding a certain amount of weight. This way, you can stay motivated longer, as you'll gradually see the results of your efforts.
Tips for sticking to a workout schedule
Find what you enjoy
If you don't like running, going to the gym, or lifting weights, you won't have the motivation to stick with these activities.
Instead, try going for a walk or exploring unconventional exercises. Ultimately, the best way to stay committed to a workout routine is to truly enjoy it.
Stay consistent
Train at the same time every day. Over time, it will become a regular part of your schedule.
If you're busy in the evening, try working out in the morning. That way, your daily activities won't interfere with your training.
Change up your workouts
Constantly vary your routine to avoid boredom and prevent motivation from fading. For example, if you usually ride a bike, try a brisk walk or yoga. Be creative and experiment with something new every few weeks.
Which workouts are more effective
In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, fitness trainer and nutritionist Viktor Mandzyak explained that people often choose between strength training and cardio workouts.
It turns out that during cardio exercises, you burn about a third more calories, while strength training - such as lifting dumbbells - helps build muscle mass.
For example, when running, the leg muscles are primarily engaged, so it isn't considered a high-intensity workout since not all body parts are involved. On the other hand, strength training activates all muscle groups in the body and is excellent for weight loss.
According to the expert, for those looking to improve physical fitness and lose weight, cardio workouts are more effective. However, if you want to shape your body and increase muscle mass, strength training will be more beneficial.
