Cardiologist names coffee safe for heart health
Coffee provides an extra boost of energy for individuals during a hectic day. However, this beverage can also have a negative impact on the heart, according to cardiologist Natalia Ivaniuk.
Coffee and heart health
According to the doctor, moderate consumption of coffee definitely has a positive effect on reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, even in elderly patients with hypertension.
Besides its positive impact on cardiovascular syste, it is important to know about some contraindications. Coffee should not be consumed by people with digestive problems such as stomach ulcers, reflux, kidney stones, or irritable bowel syndrome, as well as people with serious anxiety disorders.
Caffeine in large doses or in individual cases can cause excessive excitement, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and digestive disorders.
Moreover, coffee washes calcium out of the body and has a diuretic effect. Therefore, if you love coffee, don't forget to monitor your fluid balance.
Best coffee
The healthiest coffee is black coffee without any additives. Recommendations for 3-5 cups of coffee a day for health also specify that it should be black coffee.
The most beneficial additives to coffee are cinnamon, bitter cocoa, or cardamom.
At the same time, coffee increases heart rate and blood pressure, as caffeine stimulates the body. So if you drink it regularly and do not have hypertension, it won't harm you. If you have high blood pressure, tachycardia, or angina - be sure to consult with your doctor about whether you should drink coffee and in what quantity.
