Bitcoin hits another all-time high: Latest price update
The price of Bitcoin surged to a new all-time high on the day of Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, the information source CryptoPotato reports.
On the last day, the coin added several thousand dollars and was valued at $107,800 as of 10 a.m.
According to CryptoPotato, the cryptocurrency has experienced a "wild race" in recent days after Trump launched his own meme coin on Friday, December 17. In particular, on January 19, future First Lady Melania Trump also launched her own coin, after which Bitcoin fell below $100,000.
Currently, Bitcoin's market capitalization exceeds $2.1 trillion, making it the seventh-largest asset by that metric.
Bitcoin
Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency that operates without intermediaries such as banks or governments. It is based on blockchain technology - a distributed database recording all transactions.
Bitcoin is used for online payments, investments, and wealth preservation. Transactions occur directly between users, and the cryptocurrency is stored in digital wallets. Due to its price volatility, Bitcoin is considered a risky but promising asset.
As Reuters earlier reported, during 2025, Bitcoin could double in value, as it did in 2024.
