Biden comments on guilty verdict against his son
US President Joe Biden commented on the indictment of his son, Hunter Biden. The head of state noted that he will accept the outcome of the case and continue to respect the judicial process, according to The Washington Post.
At the same time, Biden emphasized that he and the First Lady will always stand by their son.
"As I also said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal. Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that," the US president said.
The politician also added that he and his wife are proud of the person Hunter is today.
"As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today. So many families who have had loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery," said Joe Biden.
What was Hunter Biden on trial for
In October 2018, Hunter Biden purchased a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver. However, when buying the firearm, Biden Jr. lied to the seller, claiming he did not use drugs. Last week, Biden's son began to be tried for allegedly false testimony.
In connection with the verdict, Hunter Biden faces up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $750,000. The court must now set a date for the official sentencing. According to the judge, there are 120 days for this, but she did not specify the date.
