Best way to defrost ready-made meals
Yevhen Klopotenko frequently shares recipes and various household tips. This time, the renowned chef revealed his secrets for defrosting ready-made dishes.
How to defrost ready-made meals properly
The taste of a dish depends on the correct defrosting process, so it's crucial to do it right.
The best option is to transfer the container or airtight bag with the frozen ready-to-eat food from the freezer to the refrigerator. It will gradually thaw without affecting the taste.
If you only need to defrost a portion of the food in a container, transfer it to a plate, cover it with plastic wrap to prevent odors, and place it in the refrigerator until fully thawed.
If you require a quick defrosting method, transfer the frozen meal to a baking dish and put it in a preheated oven at 100 degrees Celsius. However, this method may result in a drier dish due to the high temperature.
For reference
There are products that are not recommended for freezing at all.
These include watery vegetables such as potatoes, zucchinis, cucumbers, etc. Avoid putting freshly cooked products into the freezer while they're still warm. First, let them cool down to room temperature, then put them in the refrigerator before putting them in the freezer.
