Nutrition experts suggest that people should eat more baked beans if they are looking for the perfect meal that is both quick and healthy. This dish is ideal for breakfast when paired with eggs, reports Mirror.

Why should legumes be eaten for breakfast

Registered dietitian Helen Bond explained that legumes are very beneficial for us, and since they are cooked in a sealed can rather than being blanched before canning, this provides additional health benefits.

"If you’re looking for a quick meal, they’re cheaper and much more nutritious than ready meals and takeaways, which are full of salt and fat, both of which are bad for our health," she said.

A standard serving of baked beans contains about 168 calories and is usually sold in cans.

It is also a good source of both protein and fiber.

"Half a tin of beans contains 8g of fibre, 27 percent of our daily recommendation, and fibre is good for our gut and heart health," said Helen.

Fiber has many benefits for the body.

Its content is especially helpful as it supports digestive health, helps regulate blood sugar levels, and may contribute to feelings of fullness, which can help with weight control.

It can also help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Fiber can help you feel full, preventing overeating. This can help you maintain a healthy weight, which is good for blood pressure, blood sugar control, and cholesterol.
