Battle for Selydove: Ukrainian troops push Russian infantry out of outskirts

Ukraine's defense forces are holding the line in Selydove, Donetsk region, they drive Russians out of the outskirts of the city. The enemy is trying to conduct reconnaissance by attacking new areas, Ruslan Muzychuk, spokesperson for the National Guard, told RBC-UKraine.
“The Russian occupiers are trying to infiltrate into Selydove in the Donetsk region, the Defense Forces are holding the line, knocking out infantry groups from the outskirts of the city,” he said.
Until this week the Russian army tried to advance more on the flanks, avoiding urban battles. But over the past few days, they have intensified their assault attempts on the northeastern and eastern outskirts of the city.
“The enemy is trying to talk about controlling the city districts. But our units are working to control and destroy the infantry trying to infiltrate the neighborhood and enter the city, in particular from the area of Mykhailivka. We are also preventing the enemy from gaining a foothold, establishing observation and firing positions,” said Muzychuk.
Over the past day, Russians attacked Selydove 19 times, using a large number of soldiers. The National Guard neutralized 118 servicemen (52 of them were irreversible enemy losses, and the rest were wounded). Over the previous day, total enemy losses amounted to 307 people.
According to the spokesperson, Russia is also actively using aviation against Selydove. The outskirts of the city are regularly subjected to artillery shelling, where private sector residential buildings are constantly destroyed.
The officer added that the enemy was trying to conduct reconnaissance, attacking new areas by concentrating infantry groups in the forest belts.
In total, on October 23, the Ukrainian army repelled 38 Russian attacks in the Pokrovsk direction. The guardsmen also destroyed a tank, 5 armored vehicles, 9 vehicles, 2 ammunition depots, and an electronic warfare station along the frontline over the past day.
“The enemy is constantly trying to infiltrate and gain a foothold in private sector buildings on the outskirts. The enemy infantry is being detected and engaged with artillery and FPV drones. The National Guard also conducts assault operations, destroying the enemy during fire contact in small arms battles. The northeastern outskirts of the city are currently the most exposed to active actions of infantry groups in the city,” added Muzychuk.

Fighting for Selydove
Selydove is a town in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region. In recent days, it has become the epicenter of fighting. According to the DeepState, the Russians have entered Selydove, and half of the town is already in the red zone.
The military says fighting continues in the city. According to the General Staff, Russians concentrate forces in the area of Selydove, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are repelling the assaults.
According to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation, the battle for Selydove is ongoing, and Russians are throwing a lot of troops at this section of the front.
